Why You Must Structure Your Product First Before Writing

 
    If you're making an ebook or other information product then you must structure it properly before starting. Here's how.

    Outline Software

    This part is not essential but it makes assembling the structure much easier. I recommend using the 100% free software KeyNote and you can find it by googling for: "Tranglos software: KeyNote".

    Gathering

    During your research, make a note or enter into your outline software, everything you can think of relating to your subject.

    Surf forums and look at content sites for ideas. Other great places to check out are Google Books and Amazon - here you can view the contents pages of many books in your niche for ideas on what to write about.

    Reorder

    Now you must reorder all these key points into a structure. Start with an "Introduction" section and end with a "Final Word" section or similar.

    In between, you want to break your book into between 5 and 15 chapters. And within each chapter you want to have several sub-chapters.

    This is why I recommend using outlining software such as KeyNote. Believe me, it will make your life so much easier if you do.

    Write Or Outsource

    You should now have a structure that is ready for writing. Either begin yourself or outsource it to someone else (e.g. on GetAFreelancer, Odesk etc.). It really is that simple!
